SHABE BARAT
The daytime night on the 14th of the month of Shaban is called \"Shabe Barat\". The word Shabe Barat comes from Persian. ‘Shab’ means night, ‘Barat’ means liberation. Shabe Barat means the night of liberation. The Arabic of Shabe Barat is ‘Lailatul Baraat’. In Hadith Sharif it is called ‘Nisaf Shaban’ or ‘Midnight Day of the Month of Shaban’. In many countries of the world including Indian subcontinent, Persia, Persian, Urdu, Bengali, Hindi and many other languages which are better known as \"Shabe Barat\".
The Qur’an has come in Kareem, ‘Ha-meem! I swear! Of the glorious Book, surely We revealed it on a blessed night; Surely I was a warner. So that all important matters are determined. This instruction is from Me, surely I am the messenger. \"(Surah 44 Dukhan, verses 1-5). The commentators say: Here ‘Lailatum Mubaraka’ or blessed night means the full moon night in the month of Shaban. (Tafsir Mazhari, Ruhul Maani and Ruhul Bayan). It has been narrated from some commentators such as Hazrat Ikrima (RA) that in the second verse of Surah Dukhan, Shabe Barat is meant as the night of blessing. (Maariful Qur\"an).
It is narrated in the hadith, "Narrated from Hazrat Mu\"adh Ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, \"Allah looks with mercy on the creatures on the night of Ardhashaban and forgives all except the polytheists and the haters.\"" (Ibn Hibban: 575, Ibn Majah: 1390, Rajin: 2048; Ibn Khuzaima, Kitabut Tawhid, page: 136, Musnad Ahmad, fourth volume, page: 17).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘This is the night of mid-Shabaan. On this night, Allah pays attention to His servants, forgives those who ask for forgiveness, and bestows grace on those who ask for mercy. And leave the haters in their place. \"
Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa (RA) said, “Once the Messenger of Allah (SAW) stood up in prayer and prostrated for so long that I thought he was dead. I then got up and shook his big toe, his big toe moved; He got up from prostration and after praying he noticed me and said, “O Aisha! Do you have this fear? ” I replied, \"O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), I feared from your long prostration that you had died.\" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, \"Do you know which night it is?\" I said, \"Allah and His Messenger are good.\" You know. \"Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,\" This is the night of half Sha\"ban. On this night, Allah pays attention to His servants, forgives those who ask for forgiveness, and bestows grace on those who ask for mercy. And leave those who harbor hatred in their condition. \"(Shu\"abul Iman, Volume 3, Page: 362).
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Ayesha (RA): The Prophet (SAW) used to come to the graveyard of Madinah ‘Jannatul Baki’ that night and pray and ask forgiveness for the dead. He further said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told him that on this night Allaah forgave more sinners than the fleece (number) of the sheep and goats of Bani Kalb. (Tirmidhi: 639).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: When the middle day of Shabaan comes, you will perform naafil worship at night and fast during the day. (Ibn Majah). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: When the night of the 14th of Shabaan comes, you should spend this night in worship and fast during the day. For, after sunset on this day, Allah descends to the heavens of the world and calls out, ‘Do you have any apology? I will forgive; Are there any Rizik candidates? I will give Rizik; Are you in any danger? I will rescue you. \"Thus, till dawn, Allah continued to call people by mentioning their various needs. (Ibn Majah: 1384).
Besides, on the 3rd, 14th and 15th of every month, there is the supererogatory fast of Ayyambeed, which was observed by Hazrat Adam (AS) and also observed by our beloved Prophet (SAW), which is basically Sunnah. The famous muhaddith jurist Hafiz Ibn Rajab (RA) said that the fast of this day includes the fast of Ayyambeed. (Latayiful Maarif, page: 151).
Apart from this, Nafl fasting is important on the first, middle and last day of the month. The fast of Shabe Barat also falls under this category. Although fasting is done one day after another in the Dawoodi method of fasting, every odd date is fasted and the fast of Shabe Barat is included. After all, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to perform more naafil prayers and naafil fasts in the month of Rajab-Shaaban after the month of Ramadaan, sometimes 10, sometimes 15, sometimes 20 naafil fasts, and sometimes more. Even the Ummhatul believers have narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to start naafil fasts in the month of Shabaan in this way, it seemed that he would never break his fast again.
